Michael’s choice: Dogs don’t tell jokes
“Why shouldn’t you write on an empty stomach?
Because it’s better to write on paper!“
Michael‘s recommendation for this week is full of jokes: Dogs don’t tell jokes by Louis Sachar
Gary Boone, nicknamed Goone at his school, tries to follow his dream of being a stand-up comedian. Although Gary has terrible jokes and nobody laughs much, he gets a chance to tell them when the Student Council plans a talent show! Gary signs up immediately. Now he has three weeks to come up with the best jokes of his life but…
I think this is an excellent book, it’s funny and it has a good story line. I enjoyed it and laughed with Gary’s jokes. Gary’s talent show presentation was very funny. The language is extremely easy to understand and I’m sure you won’t feel knocked down 🙂
Louis Sachar is an American author who has also written many other books such as There’s a Boy in the Girls’ Bathroom, the series Sideways Stories from Wayside School, or Holes that was adapted into a screenplay for the 2003 film by Walt Disney Pictures.
Dogs don’t tell jokes has not been translated into Spanish so if you want to enjoy this fantastic book you are going to have to read it in English. Great! Where can I find it? Unfortunately I was unable to find this book in any major bookshops in Madrid. FNAC and Casa del libro have many other titles by Louis Sachar. So why don’t you order it from Amazon? It’s very easy and in only two weeks you will have it home.
Let me know if you start reading it or any other by Louis Sachar.
Next time: James’ choice 🙂
So say we all!!
