5th Grade – Science – Unit 8: The landscape
Dear 5th graders,
This has been a very long week and I have not been able to write as much as I wanted. However, I come loaded with a few videos, websites and more for the new unit of Science, the landscape. I hope you will find everything interesting and helpful.
Oh, but before we start, let your parents know that you are surfing the web 🙂 It is not a question of confidence. It is a question of safety.
All right, let’s go then. If you click on the image above you will get a bigger copy of the masterpiece that Julia has made for the occasion. I’m sure you will love it. She’s a wonderful artist. I refer to evidence! Click here to see Julia’s interpretation of some of the characters from Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Congratulations Julia. Keep it up! 🙂
If you click here you will reach the conceptual map that I have prepared. Again, you will need to have installed Java runtime environment in your computer. In case you don’t have it yet, you can download Java from here. It won’t work without it.
Look, I have found some interesting websites about the landforms:
· http://www.edu.pe.ca/southernkings/landforms.htm (Information about mountains, valleys, plateaus…)
· http://www.xtec.net/~ealonso/flash/esporog2e.html (This one and the next are in Spanish. However, I have included them because they are very clarifying. )
Can you recognize the different landforms of the Iberian Peninsula? You can make it bigger and zoom in or out.
Now some videos:
This one investigates various types of land forms: mountains, plains, islands; and water forms: oceans, rivers, tides and much more:
In this one you can see some really beautiful pictures:
There ain’t no mountain high enough
Ain’t no valley low enough
Ain’t no river wide enough
To keep me from getting to you. 🙂 Enjoy!
What do you think about it? I hope you will like it.
Have a very nice weekend!
So say we all!
